The ФotoFUTURA Student Festival of Photography was founded with the help and support of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts (FDU) and the Faculty of Applied Arts (FPU) in 2022.

Photography has established itself as important cultural and artistic value and a constantly evolving communication and media field and it needs to be treated professionally, properly represented in public, valuated by competent people and studied within art theory and history.

FDU and FPU are the higher education institutions that are most competent to engage in such activities. There, experts in photographic image and close fields of visual art study all aspects of the medium, from technological and practical, artistic and creative, to theoretical and historical aspects. At the same time, new directions and tendencies regarding content and form, new artistic practices, digital, extended, intermedia and multimedia aspects of photographic image are explored and studied.

These institutions educate new artists in this field, and the festival contributes to the establishment of professional standards and ethics, recognition and protection of cultural heritage, creation of a professional artist scene and audience and affirmation of the true cultural and artistic values.
